This Project is partially funded by the Department of Community Services to employ a worker to manage the day to day operations of the Community Centre. Due to this Community Services Grants Program (CSGP) funding the Centre is able to act as an umbrella for many other community projects and programs. The Centre also acts as a one-stop-shop for community information and referrals to appropriate services.
The Project looks at the needs of the area and endeavours to obtain funding to address these needs through additional projects and services. Once projects are established the Manager oversees the staff, budgets and operations of these services.
Through networking with other service providers and the local community, the Manager can identify gaps in services or any service duplications. Annual Planning Days are held at the Centre, which also provide valuable information and direction for the Project. The Manager also takes part in regional and state-wide committees to gain a broader view of how our area compares with others and to keep up-to-date with the latest trends and happenings in community development.
The Manager also oversees the day to day operations of the Centre including hiring of rooms, maintenance and improvements to the Centre and Occupational Health and Safety requirements. This task is carried out with the assistance of the Administration Officer.
The Wyoming Community Centre has a very grass roots approach to community development and welcomes and encourages any input from the local community. We try to provide a friendly, home like atmosphere where all people feel safe and welcome to use our services. |
